Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our Himalayan Yak chew - Pack of 2

Himalayan Yak Chews are 100% natural, hard cheese chews for dogs made from skimmed yak and cow’s milk with a little lime juice and salt. They contain no artificial colours, flavours, chemicals or preservatives and are gently smoke-dried for extra flavour.
Yes, they are naturally low in fat and rich in protein and calcium, helping to support strong teeth, bones and muscles while offering a satisfying, long-lasting chew.
The hard, dense texture encourages your dog to gnaw and grind, which helps scrape away soft plaque and tartar from the tooth surface and supports healthier gums and fresher breath as part of a regular dental care routine.
Yes, they are grain-free and gluten-free, making them suitable for many dogs who need to avoid wheat, maize and other cereals. Many dogs with sensitivities to common meat-based treats do well on yak chews, although they may not be suitable for dogs with a true dairy intolerance.
Himalayan Yak Chews come in different sizes, so there is an option for most breeds—from small dogs who need a lighter chew up to large, powerful chewers who need something more substantial. Always choose a size large enough that your dog cannot fit the whole chew in their mouth at once.
Most dogs can start enjoying yak chews from around 4–6 months of age, once their adult teeth are coming through and their jaws are strong enough for firm chews. For very young puppies or dogs with dental issues, speak to your vet first and always supervise chewing.
Longevity depends on your dog’s size and chewing style, but most dogs will enjoy each chew over multiple sessions rather than finishing it in one go, making them a good-value, long-lasting treat.
When the chew becomes too small to hold safely, you can soak the remaining piece briefly in warm water and then puff it up in the microwave until it turns into a light, crunchy cheese snack. Once cooled, it can be fed as a tasty, safe treat instead of being thrown away.
These chews are low odour and don’t crumble or stain like many softer treats, making them a clean option for indoor chewing without strong smells or sticky residue.
Store the chews in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the pack closed between uses so they stay hard and fresh, and discard any pieces that become very soft, damp or dirty.
